Welcome, I look forward to learning your unique lens on the world. I believe that you have the strength and capacity within you to live a full and satisfying life. I am committed to providing the affirming, supportive, and respectful space you need to discover these capacities within yourself.
I engage with therapy always from a place of respect and openness first. My earnest engagement, wry sense of humor, and ability to engage gently with what may be scary about the work of self-knowing are some of my first tools to help you attend to your needs in therapy.
I find therapy can be a very spiritual endeavor. The process of building authentic relationship and engaging with what cannot be said in other areas of our lives are deeply empowering processes. I work from a theoretical grounding in Gestalt therapy, which is a somatic and existential theoretical orientation. This modality emphasizes authenticity, so I am very direct about what I think might be happening in the room and will encourage you to experiment with your own authentic expression. I am also highly integrative and will bring together techniques from various practices and modalities to find what works for you.
I find it deeply important to help the mind and body realize that they aren’t separate entities but are parts of a whole creating your experience of the world. Though we will do a lot of talking, I will encourage you to find grounding in embodiment and noticing how your body responds when you discuss events and ideas that trouble you. I believe that the traumas we experience are encoded in our bodies. I will support safe exploration of these encodings so that you are able to untangle the pain of the past and transmute it into the beauty of who you are.
I find that none of this is possible without social justice narratives, as power and privilege inform our many cultures like the air we breathe. I am committed to equity and engagement with the structures that are not right. Systemic issues create distress, and acknowledging these impacts are the very first step to engaging with them.
I am a queer, nonbinary, spectrum-adjacent femme and an integrative let’s-find-what-works clinician.
