TRAINEE in practicum at jfku

I bring a warm, accepting, open, and light-hearted energy to the therapy room. I am not the type of person to pity my clients. Our work together might be difficult but also rewarding, as I challenge you to confront the reality of your experience. Together we will determine how your own beliefs are contributing to that reality and whether this is functional for you - or not. I will also help you to uncover your own personal blind spots as you meet the You that you are truly supposed to be.
How i Identify
As a clinician who identifies as white, male, heterosexual, middle-class, educated and able-bodied I hit nearly all the privileged markers recognized by our society. As a result of being a member of the dominant group for nearly every category and living in such a diverse culture as the Bay Area, I believe it is my responsibility as a clinician to bring humility and openness into my practice. My work around oppression has been around becoming aware of the ways in which privilege and oppression manifest in the day-to-day life of so many people. I invite you to come sit with me and tell me your story as I listen with a respectful and compassionate ear.
I am a local to the East Bay. For as long as I can remember I have had a deep passion for psychology and helping others. It has always been my curiosity that has attracted me to the hidden corners of the human expereince. It was in college that I received my calling to become a holistic therapist as I was going through my own healing process. The path to healing is often difficult, painful, and down-right terrifying. My hope is to support my clients and help them to navigate through the darkness of their suffering.
