Therapy and Counseling Services

Real people. Real help.

A fresh approach to therapy and counseling.

Axis is here to change and challenge what therapy has meant and who it’s been available to.

Axis Mundi Center for Mental Health offers therapy grounded in professional ethics, clinical skill, and a deep respect for the importance of the therapeutic relationship. Research consistently shows that one of the strongest predictors of successful therapy is the sense of fit between a client and their therapist, and we take that seriously.

Because of this, we believe it’s important for you to have a real sense of who we are and how we work. Our clinicians do not practice from a model of personal invisibility. Clinical experience and research both show that thoughtful presence and authenticity support strong therapeutic relationships. Our clinicians get that and identify themselves in ways that are personal, genuine, and still respectful and committed to all of the ways that therapy is all about YOU.

As a practice in clinical integrity and a commitment to high standards of care, we consistently work to reduce practical and systemic barriers that can make mental health care difficult to access or harmful. Our commitment is to provide thoughtful, humble, engaged, and professionally grounded therapy in a setting where clients feel respected and supported.

We do not separate ethical care from the social and environmental conditions that shape mental health - ignoring real-world conditions does not make therapy neutral, it makes it incomplete.

Areas of Practice

Therapy for individuals

Individual therapy (sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling”) is a process through which clients work one-on-one with a trained therapist—in a safe, caring, and confidential environment—to explore their feelings, beliefs, or behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives and relationships that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and then work towards them.

Therapy for relationships, couples, and families

Relationship counseling is a process through which people (who may be engaged, dating, married, partnered—or sometimes even parent and child or other pairings) works with a trained therapist to identify specific areas of conflict and/or aspects of their relationship they would like to change, and then develops a plan of action to improve each individual’s satisfaction and contentment. This approach is also the foundation for family work.

therapy in groups

We offer group therapy and counseling that is both supportive and investigative. Group work give clients the benefits of many minds working on the same problems in safe, non shaming environments.

Contact us for more information.

retreat programs

Axis Mundi offers retreat and ritual programs that are for groups of 6 -12. These retreats are designed to help clients "unplug" from the day-to-day grind of the world, and reconnect to the quiet, still, voice within. They take place in beautiful, natural environments, and can be tailored to the groups' needs.

traineeships & associateships

Axis Mundi offers a very limited amount of internship placements to new clinicians who meet our standards of excellence and values, via invitation. For information, please email onboardinginquiries@axismunditherapy.org.
